After a perfect Camino day of cool temperatures, blue sky, and beautiful meadows, I’ve discovered that joy does not come to us but is our true nature. There is very little effort recognizing joy on the Camino, it’s everywhere in nature, in walking, in silence, and in prayer. Joy surrounds Pilgrims who are able to see, hear, feel, smell, and taste the Camino each morning. Joy on the Camino remains for hours as we drift through villages slowly, listening to our feet hit rocks and dirt watching the sunrise. There is no anxiety in joy, only an inner space filled with God. There is no need to comment, conclude, compare or judge. A favourite Einstein comment, “I want to know the mind of God, all else is details.” This is achievable on the Camino.
Eckhart Tolle “when you become present, your actions become charged with spiritual power. Life is always now. Separation between the world and God dissolves when living now. Enjoyment is bringing joy to what you are doing, replace wanting as the motivating power behind your actions. Joy does not come from what you do, it flows into what you do and thus into this world from deep within you.”
