Camino Frances from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela

Beauty

Sleeping is an adventure each night, as one pilgrim always snores. I imagine their spouse is pleased to have them gone for 30 days! I tend to sleep about 4-5 hours before snoring or rustling wakes me. Fortunately, Joel taught friends a breathing meditation in Turks & Caicos, which focuses the mind on breathing, to remove distractions! Meditation has been a huge benefit to sleeping and walking on the Camino!

I listen to podcasts during my walks and a favorite is “Conversations with Tyler.” I listened to an episode on how social media impacts children under the age of 15. If you have younger children or grandchildren, this is definitely worth a listen – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/conversations-with-tyler/id983795625?i=1000651306835

I continue to be surprised how often pilgrims openly speak of God while walking. Perhaps walking 30 kilometres a day removes hesitation to discuss religious topics. Two younger women from Ohio asked me “Is suffering important, why do we suffer, can our suffering benefit others?” I enjoy such discussions and listening to their opinions. One pilgrim offered “God is on the other side of this walk.”

You have a strength in photography too! This could be another retirement hobby. 🙂
