Camino Frances from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela

St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France Arrival

I arrived at St. Jean-Pied-de-Port, France – the Camino Francés starting point. It’s located at the foot of the Pyrenees and is 500 miles from Santiago de Compostela. I wasn’t able to sleep on either flight or two hour taxi ride, as my foot was throbbing from dry cracked fissures in my heal, probably from walking on the sandy Turks & Caicos beaches. I remembered a quote from St. Alphonsus “Don’t allow your peace of mind to depend on prosperity or adversity, be constant in serenity and calmness with God’s will.” Colleen and I applied moisturizer before leaving Cape Cod, and will continue to apply during my Camino walk. It feels much better this afternoon!

I’m walking 32 kilometers tomorrow over the 1,500 meters elevation over mountains in background
